With proper care and maintenance, your granite countertops will look great for years to come. This is a guideline of how you can help keep your countertops looking good.

  1. Clean stone surfaces with a mild detergent, such as dish detergent (liquid) diluted with water.
  2. Blue Windex, used weekly, will keep your tops clean, and help with the shine. Buff with a dry cloth after cleaning to bring out shine.
  3. Always use a soft cloth for cleaning and polishing.

  • Do dust surfaces frequently.
  • Do clean surfaces with mild detergent or stone soap.
  • Do thoroughly rinse and dry the surface after washing
  • Do blot up spills immediately.
  • Do use trivets under hot bowls, pots or dishes from the oven or stove.

  • Don’t use vinegar, lemon juice or other cleansers containing acids.
  • Don’t use cleansers that contain acid such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners or tub & tile cleaners.
  • Don’t use abrasive cleaners such as dry cleansers or “soft” cleansers.
  • Don’t mix bleach and ammonia; this combination creates a toxic and lethal gas.
  • Don’t use scouring pads or creams, these products contain abrasives that may scratch the surface.
